Cohen Lee Kindrick Cohen Lee Kindrick decided to come join us 2 weeks earlier then expected. He was born on April 30 at 7:54 in the morning. He weighs 6 pounds 15 ounces and is 18.5 inches long. He has beautiful blue eyes and just a little bit of reddish brown hair.
We got to come home yesterday, Saturday, and it was great to get to sleep in my own soft bed. Hospital beds are no fun, especially when they are waking you up ever so often to check this, that and everything else.
He has really been a very good baby so far. I am up early today with him after feeding him, but he is back to sleep already. Last night, Jerimiah was awesome and got up with him, feed him, changed him and let me get some rest. He is a great daddy! Cohen hasn't really taken too well to the breast milk so we have been bottlefeeding. We are going to keep trying but we will just see how it goes. Let me share with you the crazy story of the 11 hours before he was born.
This past Monday was my last day at school because my blood pressure had gone up and the dr. asked me to wrap things up at school so I could rest until the baby was born. So Tuesday and Wednesday I was at home resting. On Wednesday afternoon I needed to run to the eye dr. to try some new contacts so I went there for a short while. Jerimiah worked all day and got home at 7 PM. We needed a few things from the grocery store so we ran up to the store that is about 5 minutes fom our house. We were shopping away and all the sudden I felt like I needed to go to the bathroom. Not thinking anything was different then my normal million bathroom trips, I started walking to the front of the store. All the sudden I felt a gush a water and I was a little bit concerned. I went to the bathroom and I was soaked. I cleaned up the best that I could then headed to find Jerimiah. He was looking at some magazines so I walked up to him and said, Um...I think we better get going, I believe my water just broke. The look on his face was priceless. I headed to the car and Jerimiah finished paying and we headed home to call the dr. and to grab the bags to go.
We were at the hospital about an hour after my water broke and they examined me to make sure that it had fully ruptured and it did. They got me all set up in a room and I was very fortunate that my dr. was the on call dr. The nurses called her and they got me all my IV's and started me on a slow poticin drip to help the contractions. At this point I was 2.5 cm dilated and still just 80% effaced. The contractions started getting worse, so they gave me 2 shots of pain medication, but that did not help. About 3 AM they finally gave me my epidural and was then able to sleep some. The dr. came I think it was around 7 sometime and we started pushing. And at 7:54, Mr. Cohen was born. He is doing great.
He is a very good baby so far and is beautiful. We will try to update more often now and get lots of pictures of him up.
